You’ve done it! You’ve decided to sign up for therapy and are awaiting the next chapter of your story to begin.
We’re here to help you thrive
The first therapy session is unlike the following sessions, and therefore it can feel like a strange encounter. The first session is known as the intake session. The purpose of the intake session is for the intake worker and you to create the most accurate picture of you as possible. In other words, this is a time where the intake worker goes over all there is to know (as if that’s possible in one session) about you to help gather a picture for the therapist.
Overcome your obstacles
Fill Out Forms
One way in which your therapist gets to know you is through the use of forms.
Gather Information
This will not be a normal therapy session. This session is to gather more information from you, really get a sense of who you are.
Understand Confidentiality
The intake worker will discuss confidentiality with you and go over any exceptions.
Map Out Future Work
The intake worker will ask you what your goals are for therapy. The direction of therapy may change, but this can create a starting point.

What our clients are saying
Shirley and Maddie
Mom and daughter
“It is obvious from the moment you walk into this place that the therapists here care. My daughter is finally working through some stuff we’ve needed to do for a long time. I’m so thankful we found this place.”

“I had put off getting help for years. I wasn’t sure if therapy was right for me, but it was one of the best decisions I have made thus far. My therapist was a great listener, very understanding, and recommended tools relevant to my situation. I highly recommend the Center for Therapy & Counseling Services for anyone struggling through life’s difficult stages.”
Richard
Accountant
“Several years ago I began having panic attacks after a brief illness. They became debilitating and I knew I had to get back on track because I literally felt frozen. If you’ve had panic, you know that it feels like you are losing control. I withdrew from situations that never bothered me before and literally lost out on many previously enjoyable experiences. I am VERY grateful to have found the Center for Therapy & Counseling Services. I felt comfortable from the beginning. Our sessions were very effective and quickly we were able to identify together what I needed to do to gain my life back. What was previously debilitating is now doable and I even amaze myself of how far I’ve come.”
